| Deona's Diapering is an outgrowth of the struggle my husband of six years, Colin, and I have endured to this point. We have striven to find the best means to raise our son. Years before he was born, we were introduced to the joys of natural child birth. We realized the superiority of cloth diapering. Later, as I prepared to breastfeed our son, I found the support of La Leche League. Finally, we have come to understand and appreciate the concept of Attachment Parenting. Throughout this, we have had the support of our family and church. This site is a compilation of years of searching for the most efficient and useful childcare products on the market.

Natural Child Birth
As a dear friend struggled with which direction to take in her life, she pointed us to natural child birth. For us this included midwifery. Since then, I have had the dream of a midwife assisted home-birth. This was the plan for our son, but he surprised us on vacation in Washington, DC. To our relief, the wonderful staff at George Washington University Hospital met our needs and desires as our son came into this world. Nevertheless, I will be planning my home birth in the next few years.

Cloth Diapering
Neither, of us were raised being overly conscientious of the environment. Regardless, we have come to understand the environmental abuse and financial waste that has become the disposable diaper industry. The search for the perfect diaper has been difficult. Because of this journey, we strive to provide the best products available for parents. Each of these products we have either used or researched as to their integrity, cost effectiveness, and ease of use.

The support that was found in La Leche prior to the birth of our son was priceless. Still, that did not make breastfeeding happen perfectly. With an underdeveloped mouth and improper latch issues, our son had trouble feeding at first. Under the direction of a lactation consultant and with the support of other mothers with similar struggles, all turned out well.

Attachment parenting seems to be a new concept in our culture, but pervasive throughout the rest of the world. Many cultures believe in responding to the needs a newborn expresses, carrying a child to foster attachment (and out of necessity), and disciplining through relationship building. We have come to appreciate the joy of seeing our son attached to both of his parents and being able to more adequately respond to his needs.
